South Florida peacock bass fishing remains red hot despite heavy thunderstorms lately. On Tuesday July 1st. I had Daniel Paszynski from Boca Raton, Fl. out for a Miami peacock bass guided trip. Dan and I boated 26 peacocks up to 5 1/2 lbs. and two over 4 pounds also. Dan caught all his fish on live shiners while I caught my 4 fish on jigs. The canal remains clean even after the heavy pumping of water from the water management department which is usual for this time of year. Just a little side trip last week for Tarpon on the South Florida west coast with Silver King Charters. I landed this beautiful 160 lb. beast in about 45 minutes. It was incredible and harder than I thought to boat. If anybody ever needs a guide for Florida’s southwest coast I have just the guide service! Bernard Washington and I were out in the South Florida Everglades on Saturday and landed 20 largemouth Bass to 5 lbs. on worms. It’s was a little tough dodging lightning bolts for about on hour but we managed. It’s becoming a little tougher now to locate big bass because the heavy rain has finally arrived. The water management department will pump almost everyday now which lowers the p.h. and oxygen stressing the bass out! Hopefully the rain won’t be to bad. Jim Kientzy and his brother-in-law Dwayne from Missouri were out bass fishing in the Florida Everglades last week. The guys boated 45 largemouth bass to 3 lbs. on plastic worms. Jim missed a few nice ones at the side of the boat. The size of the bass are smaller now that the rain has been consistant lately. The heavy rains change p.h. and oxygen levels quickly and slow down the bass fishing. The bigger bass get sluggish and stressed and won’t bite good until the pumping of the water slows down.
